A day in the life of ...

I've seen several bloggers blog about a day in the life of themselves. They always seem to have a ton of interesting things to say and do. I am going to blog about a day in the life of the Allen family. Not promising, excited. Definitely busy though!

Let's just jump right in!

7:00 a.m.: Logan's talking, so I look in her cradle and see that she is awake. I go make her a bottle, grab her, and get back into bed to feed her. We both fall back asleep.

Around 7:30, Kennedy wakes up and comes to get into bed with us. We play with Logan for a while and get out of bed. I didn't feel like cooking breakfast, so Chaz went to Sonic and got us some breakfast burritos. After I picked up the house and did a load of laundry, Kennedy, Logan, and I went to play for a while. I took these pics of the girls while we were playing.

After we got finished playing, I uploaded a book to Kennedy's Leapfrog Tag. We read Tangled.  Kennedy asked if she could watch Pirates of the Carribean for the 20th time, and of course, I said yes. :)
I did more cleaning, called my mom, and did more laundry and put it away. After all that, I heated up leftovers for lunch. Kennedy and I worked on writing a princess storybook after lunch. Her favorite princess is Aurora. Chaz put Logan down for a nap. While she was sleeping I was painting a french provincial china cabinet. It is going to be so pretty when it's finished. Logan woke up, and shortly after that I had a client come pick up her white with cream glazed french provincial dresser.

After she left I painted on the china cabinet for a while longer.  I put on a chuck roast for a few hours, planning on making stew for dinner. I love stew on a cold wintery day.  Kennedy and I went to my mom's and I jumped in the tanning bed for a little bit. A girl has got to get a little color every now and then. We left there and headed to Wal-Mart. I needed to pick up carrots for the stew that I was going to make for dinner. When I got home, my roast was ready to shred. I shredded that, added the other ingredients to my stew and voila! Stew was ready in about an hour. Chaz, Kennedy, and I ate dinner while Logan shrieked at us the entire time. Half of the time she was shrieking happily, the other half was in pain. Poor girl is teething. I just wish those little teeth would pop through the skin and stop bothering her!

After dinner, Chaz's mom and dad came by. They had been on a cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel for 7 days. They really missed the girls, but had a good time. They saw the girls and visited with us for a while and then headed home. Chaz put Logan to sleep and I tucked Kennedy in. I went to Jack's and got gas (because I know that I will NOT want to get out in the morning).  I'm back home, relaxing and blogging. Whew! What a day.

I also painted this desk yesterday. I've been a busy little bee. Can't wait to paint more and have more pictures for everyone to see.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a good upcoming week. It's snowing outside and I just read that some schools are closed tomorrow. I guess the weekend isn't over for some. Unfortunately I will have to head in to work in the morning. G'nite y'all!

{Happy 6 months baby Logan}

My baby is 6 months old today. Where has time gone? I used to hear people say that all the time and always thought they were crazy. Time always passed so slowly. Not anymore! This little girl has accomplished so much in her six months with us. God truly blessed us with a beautiful and perfect baby when he gave us Logan Ann.

From the first day she was born, Logan was a beautiful baby in every way. She didn’t cry much and was such a peaceful little angel. Let’s not forget to mention how cute she really is. She has a beautiful skin tone, just like her daddy. She has a dark complexion and big brown eyes. She has such a wonderful little personality too. I love it!

I always wondered how I could even love another baby after having Kennedy. Well, it’s possible! Logan has brought so much joy into our lives.

Lately she has been trying to sit up on her own and also learning to crawl. She doesn’t have it mastered, but I bet she will soon! Her eyes are always glued on Kennedy and you can tell she wants to get moving! I can’t wait to see what the next six months will bring with our girls!

Happy 6 month Birthday Miss Logan. Momma loves you.

Looking at mommy. Sweetest thing.

I realize that I am biased, but this baby is gorgeous! :)

Happy Birthday to my love!

Today is my handsome hubby, Chaz's 27th birthday. I'm all about lists, as you probably already know~so I'm going to list the top 10 things about my hubby in celebration of his birthday. There are many, many more than 10 great things about him, but hey, I don't have all day. ;-)

10. Chaz has a heart of gold. He would give anything he has to help someone out and cares about others' feelings. Such an admirable trait.

9. He is the best daddy to my girls. He is truly present in their lives and the smiles on their faces when they see him is proof.

8. He is truly a great friend. He doesn't gossip or blow things out of proportion. He listens and sees things from other's perspective first.

7. He is honest.

6. He helps out around the house. I'm lucky because I know a lot of men don't help cook etc...

5. He's not too hard on the eyes! He is super handsome. :)

4. He is such a hard worker and succeeds everywhere he goes-home, work, etc..all around guy!

3. Chaz is seriously the funniest person I know. He makes me laugh non stop. He jokes around with Kennedy and I can see his personality in her. Uh-oh. :) only kidding.

2. He is humble. He has so much going for him and he is such a humble guy. How did I get do lucky?!

1. He loves God. He has taught me so much and for that, I love him.

Okay~for his birthday Kennedy and I made him a peanut butter chocolate ganache cake. Recipe courtesy of the Diva Dish. Take a look here:

Short and Sweet

Here is my latest French Provincial piece. To be honest with you, I wasn't too sure about the yellow. After it was finished though, I LOVE IT! This piece is already spoken for, but I think I"m going to paint something this goldenwheat color for myself! I will have more pics of a black French Provincial dresser and chest AND a red French Provincial china cabinet. I know, I know...I keep saying that.. But I will.

That's all for tonight.

Listen up Moms!

My post tonight is about paint, but not the kind of paint you're probably thinking...although Sherwin Williams is having a huge paint sale in case you're interested. You can see the promotion here:

http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/sherwin_williams_products/on_sale/

You receive 25% off all paints and stains and 15% off paint supplies.

Okay, on to the important paint...

If you're like me, my hands are always in soap, cleaning products, bleach, etc...my nails always looked horrible! Even if I decided to paint them, the paint would start chipping within a couple days and I would end up at work with trashy looking chipped up nail polish.

Good news though, I no longer have awful looking nails. I actually have manicured nails with polish that lasts for weeks! What's my secret? Well, you may already know about this, so if you do-yay You! :) if not, you are going to L-O-V-E this! The new thing is gel polish, also called gel nails. The nail tech applies 3-4 coats of this gel polish (comes in all OPI colors) and dries them under a UV lamp between coats. The best part is the polish lasts for up to a month. I usually change it every 3 weeks. The second best thing about this polish is that when you leave it's completely dry with no chance of smudging it nd messing up your nails! Can you tell I love this stuff?! I've always been a nail biter so it's kind of amazing now that I have decent looking nails.

I'm pretty sure most nail salons offer gel polish now, but I will give a shout out to Epik Nail Salon on N Western Avenue. They are awesome! I would post a pic of my perfectly polished nails, but I am posting from the iPad --- so no pictures.

I bet you had no idea you would find such useful information on this blog. :)
More about furniture projects next time.

French Provincial Love and other news!

Im loving all this French Provincial furniture. I can't paint enough!
I bet 5 years ago people couldn't give away that old furniture. Now, it's a hot commodity among the furniture junkies. Those dressers and chests sell like hot cakes on Craigslist. I've found a few good deals lately. The real treasures are when you find the.m at garage or estate sales. You can usually get a good price on them there. If you're interested in seeing what can be done to French Provincial furniture, chck out my Facebook page for pics. Also, the blog 'thefrenchprovincialfurniture.com' is a great replace to check out the trends of painting FP furniture.

I do have some awesome news to share. I've been approved to sell in the October Affair of the Heart! Woohoo! I have so much work to do!!! I can't complain because I have so many custom orders right now, but I'm also going to have to start retaining an inventory for the show in Oct. I'm so excited to be doing this! I am so blessed that I have a wonderful husband that supports me in this new endeavor. It is a lot of work, especially considering I have a full time job and 2 beautiful girls who are a handful, a love it-wouldn't change a thing kind of handful. :)

Will start posting some before and after pics soon!
Beyond blessed,

Erin

20 something...for now.

Today I turned the big 2-9. One more year of the 20's. In true EA fashion, I am going to compile a list of goals to accomplish during my 29th year. Before this blog, I'd probably bust out the colored sharpies and stationary.

Here it goes-Letterman style.

(these are not in order of importance, my thoughts are scattered)

Top 10 goals to accomplish before my 29th birthday...

10. Read at least 5 books this year. Sad, I know. Last year I read one. Poor!
*I read the girls' books but that doesn't count.

9. Live in the moment. Worry less, love more.

8. Eat more vegetables. I didn't say this list was going to be interesting!!!

7. Continue this blog-I'd love for my girls to be able to read their momma's thoughts one day.

6. Be successful at Affair of the Heart with my small business. (work hard, get it going).

5. Always take the high road. This includes biting my tongue. :)

4. Send birthday cards (on time)!

3. Have a real date night with my hot hubby at least once every month or two.
(I'll dedicate a full post to this guy soon. He's pretty special).

2. Pray.

1. Give credit where it's due. Thank you God for this life and the people who make me happy.

That's all.

Waffle Wednesday

Today is "waffle Wednesday" at Nana's, according to Kennedy. Those were the first words she mumbled this morning as she was lying in my bathroom floor. Yes, you heard it right...my bathroom floor. I know everyone has their own little morning routines so I thought I'd share ours. (by the way: I'd sure love some waffles right now!)

Our mornings usually start between 5 am - 5:30 am, depending on how many times I hit the snooze. I get out of bed and into the shower. When I get out of the shower I wake Chaz up and he heads for the shower. He wakes Kennedy up on his way. She likes to bring her blanket and curl up on my bathroom floor. She likes this because I have a floor vent and she likes feeling the warm air. She lays there and sometimes sleeps, sometimes talks to me...

When I finish getting ready, I change Miss Logan's diaper, gather all our things-the diaper bag, Kennedy's clothes, my gym bag, my purse, put on KK's shoes and coat, put Logan in the carseat, and head out the door by 6 am. Whew! That made me tired just typing it. Then Chaz and I are headed to work until 4.

Then the best part of my day...picking the girls up and heading home! After we play, cook dinner, play some more, watch some tv, get baths, read books, tell stories, and put them to bed--I sometimes find time to paint. In the next few days I'm going to post about some of my latest projects!

Anyway, now that I've shared my routine, what's yours?

Suddenly I see...

I'm Erin. I love painting furniture! Especially French Provincial furniture. After my second daughter Logan was born last year, I decided to start painting and distressing furniture for others. I have a lot of custom pieces of my own and had been asked if I would paint for a few friends. Well, why not?! I love it! I enjoy funky colors, being creative, and turning a piece of junk into an awesome masterpiece! My favorite color is turquoise, but I'm trying to "tone it down". I've been super busy lately and haven't had much time to devote to my painting projects. Hopefully this will change soon.

Anyway, if you're wondering- I'm just a small town Oklahoma girl who married her high school sweetheart. I was blessed with two beautiful little girls who make my world go 'round. I could go on for hours about those two. I'm sure you'll hear ALL about them in the coming months.

I'm super driven and always making lists of goals etc...my goal for this blog is to display my furniture and creative, funky side. But I also want you to know the real me. I'll be posting things about my girls, home, hot hubby, and just life in general. So, if you're ready for all that, join me here! Oh, and I promise to get some bling and (of course) some turquoise on this page soon. There's only so much a girl can do from an iPad. More to come very soon!
